Services: Guidance and Counsellin
At Colonel By we serve
students, parents and staff by providing three different
kinds of counselling and instruction: Educational, Career
and Personal.
Educational Counselling
- We help students:
-
select high school courses
- fix timetable problems
- deal with difficulties in learning,
studying or organizing time
- develop an educational plan
appropriate to abilities, interests and goals
- consider educational opportunities
after high school
- find sources of information
on further education (both in print and computer)
- work their way through the
college and university application process
- find out about financial assistance,
scholarships, etc.
Career
Counselling - We help students:
- explore possible career areas
- determine their suitability
for various careers
- find sources of informationon
careers (both in print and computer)
- use programs such as Co-op
to further their first hand knowledge of the world of
work
- find part-time, full-time or
summer work
- learn what they need to know
to get and keep a job
Personal
Counselling - We help students:
- learn more about themselves
and others
- deal with personal concerns,
whatever their origin, and come up with alternative
solutions
- find others, outside the Guidance
Department, who might be of further help.
