1.Parents and applicants are invited to the Colonel By Parents' Information evening to be held at 7:00 pm, November 28th, 2006 at Colonel By S. S.

2. Submission of IB documentation by applicant to IB Coordinator must include:
• A Colonel By Secondary School IB application form
• A Colonel By Secondary School IB option sheet
• The applicant’s most recent report card ( % grades required)
• A sample of the applicant’s best written English work (not returned)
• A grade 9 transcript (for students applying for admission to grade 10)
• A feeder school Grade 8 Teacher’s recommendation form.
(return in a sealed envelope) This item could be sent by internal Board mail.
• NO DOCUMENTS WILL BE RETURNED, (PLEASE LEAVE COPIES)
• SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 13TH, 2006 (5:00pm)
3. Assessment of IB applications are conducted under the supervision of the Colonel By Secondary School Principal.
4. All applicants will sit for the CAT/3 (Canadian Achievement Test). These tests will take place at Colonel By Secondary School on the following dates:
• Select one sitting only
• 1st sitting will be held on Wednesday, January 10th 2007 at 5:00 p.m.
• 2nd sitting will be held on Saturday, January 13th 2007 at 9:00 a.m.
• Students must provide a pencil and eraser for the test. Simple calculators although not required are permitted for one of the test sections.
• The CAT/3 is given in English
• Registration for CAT/3 will take place on November 28th in person (at the Parents' Information Evening). Should you not be able to attend this evening, you may register in person, or by phone, through the office on, or before December 13th. Payment must be made prior to a student sitting for the test. The administration fee for the test is $15.00. (If you are paying on the test day, please arrive at least 30 minutes in advance)
5. Letter of acceptance/refusal will be sent to the applicant. If accepted, a letter entitled “Memorandum of Understanding” will be included. This letter must be signed and returned with a non-refundable administrative fee in order to guarantee the applicant’s place in the program. The amount of this fee is currently under review and will be available as of Nov. 28th.
6. If the applicant wishes to appeal the decision, she/he may contact the IB Coordinator to set a date to write the CAT/2. This test score will be reviewed and compared with the CAT/3.
