TDJ 4M– Grade 12 Technological Design
Course Outline 2007/2008


This course provides students with opportunities to solve problems in design through the use of technical drawings, model building, testing, and marketing. Students will research, design, and test solutions for residential or commercial architecture, industrial engineering, and manufacturing. They will also examine the educational requirements of a technical design related career in engineering, architecture, or industrial design.

FORMAT
This course will be delivered with a combination of lessons, hands on projects, and labs. Much of the course will be taught in a self-directed student centred style. Students will work individually and in small groups to complete assigned projects.

ASSESSMENT, EVALUATION & REPORTING:
Students will be assessed to determine how well they have achieved specific expectations for the course. A variety of methods including; self and peer assessment, marking schemes, checklists, tests and rubrics will be used to asses the work.
When rubrics are used for assessment a numerical mark is generated based on the following table;

Grade Range Percentage Achievement Level Summary Description
80-100% Level 4 A very high to outstanding level of achievement. Achievement is above the provincial standard.
70-79% Level 3 A high level of achievement. Achievement is at the provincial standard.
60-69% Level 2 A moderate level of achievement. Achievement is below, but approaching, the provincial standard.
50-59% Level 1 A passable level of achievement. Achievement is below the provincial standard.
Below 50% Incomplete Insufficient achievement of curriculum expectations. A credit will not be granted.

A mark is generated on the report card based on the following breakdown;
